This is a multitrack keyboard cover of "Gabriel's Oboe" by Ennio Morricone which is the movie soundtrack of "The Mission". Played on a Yamaha PSR-S700. It was also a little "mission" for me to record this video with 6 voices, but luckily not a mission impossible :D Playing all the voices took me about one day, and creating the video another day (even rendering of this 3 minute video took more than 5 hours with my dualcore). Hope you enjoy it.
A lecture and performance on Mozart's Oboe Quartet in F major, k.370 by Christopher Hogwood, with Mea Wade and players from the Royal Academy of Music. Harnessing virtuosity to good taste and fireworks to fine craftsmanship is a permanent challenge for the composer. Purely technical show will have little lasting effect, and Mozart was especially scrupulous at linking what sounded effective with what was musically needed. We examine with Mea Wade the requirements of good oboe playing and some of that instrument's special qualities, and hear a performance of the quartet with players from the Royal Academy of Music. The quartet comprises Mea Wade (oboe), Eleanor Corr (violin), Richard Waters (viola) and Antonio Novais (cello). Thetranscript and downloadable versions of the lecture are available from the Gresham College website: www.gresham.ac.uk Gresham College has been giving free public lectures since 1597. This tradition continues today with all of our five or so public lectures a week being made available for free download from our website. www.gresham.ac.uk

Let all mortal flesh keep silence is an ancient chant of Eucharistic devotion based on the verses taken from Habakkuk 2:20 "Let all the earth keep silence before Him". This is my interpretation of this lovely hymn that I often use for communion on the organ. Instruments: piano, harp, two layers of strings, cello, sitar, oboe. Photo credits: I took this photo during a hike last year in Jasper, Alberta. When I listen to this song, I think majestic, powerful - and for some reason I think of nature. This melody is part of the public domain library and this recording does NOT infringe on copyright laws.

A former oboe student of mine wanted me to make a demonstration of how the English Thumb-Plate works. Loree told me that I was the ONLY person in the United States that uses this system from their factory and according to their records, they have never sold a thumb-plate system oboe to anyone else in the United States. When other oboists see the benefits and advantages, they always say "Oh My God-why don't they put those on EVERY oboe?"
Lugia's Song or as The Great Guardian played on Finale 2008 and MuseScore at the same time. Many thanks to Ami Vitale for permission to use her photography. I've recently finished editing delightful ouverture, and its available in a new modern Urtext edition available from Brian Clark's "Prima la musica!" website. The scoring is for an oboe d'amore and strings. The oboe appears in five of the movements, adding a pastoral charm with rustic effects including pizzicato strings, and swaying rhythms in a three part Menuet at the end of the suite. The audio for this was generate with Sibelius music engraving software. All the repeats for all movements are honored, but da capos (ie replaying the 1st dance in the set) are not. 1. Ouverture 2.
